The Department of Communication offers 2 different undergraduate degrees and an M.S. in Communication that prepare our students to think creatively and critically in various settings. Our B.A. in Media Studies is a mix of practical, theoretical and critical approaches. Students create short documentary films, promotional videos and studio-based scripted productions, and have gone on to M.F.A. programs and/or careers in the film, broadcast and television industries. Our B.A. in Strategic Communication mixes applied skills with theory and community-based research projects so as to prepare students to effectively communicate across various platforms within organizations and/or with external audiences.
Your gift to the Department of Communication will help us continue to provide the following opportunities for our students:
- Original student projects (using up-to-date production equipment)
- Study abroad programs
- Community engagement partnerships
Additionally, the Professor Benjamin Sevitch Communication Department scholarship is awarded annually to an undergraduate Communication major who starts his/her senior year with the highest cumulative GPA.For more information about the Communication department, click here.
