History is Central

Keep History In Our Futures

The History Department prides itself on its commitment to first-rate scholarship and teaching. Faculty members in the department have won more Board of Trustees/Board of Regents research and teaching awards than any other single department in the 17-school CSCU system. Our faculty members are regularly represented in the Excellence in Teaching award ceremonies. Our students present at conferences, publish books and papers, and work in many of the historical sites in Connecticut.

Gifts made to the History Department will support the following:

  • Scholarships for undergraduates in need and graduate students in the Master of Public History program.
  • Public lectures in history such as our "Lectures in Leadership" series.
  • The Paullin Prize awarded for the best undergraduate paper in HIST 301: The Historical Imagination, our methodology class.
  • Enhance the yearly Career Day in March, a time when students meet alumni and employers to discuss career aspirations.
